My dance practice is rooted in the belief that dance is for everyone. I have taught dancers from 3 months to 98 years old. Delivering Contemporary dance technique and creative classes, my practice has taken me into sheltered housing, care homes, schools, theatres, galleries, mental health wards, community halls, dance studios as well as teaching outdoors. Alongside my independent work I have delivered classes for arts organisations including Stop Gap Dance company, DanceEast, Norwich Theatre Royal, Norfolk and Norwich Festival, Xen Arts, Glasshouse Dance & The Garage
Early years
My work with babies and children in their early years seeks to support the individuality of the child. My sessions are fun and creative and draw from a range of stimulus. Sessions provide a rich learning environment through use of a range of props and varied genres of music. While I am primarily a dance artist I also have an early years music practice. This has been developed through working with SALT music,( a 2 year action research project developing a pedagogical approach drawing on the expertise of music practitioners and Speech and Language therapists) and extended by my own independent practice. |

School Age My practice seeks to enable children and teenagers to develop their Contemporary dance technique, at all levels of ability, while inspiring creativity and self expression. Creative tasks in class will take students on a path to develop their own choreography. As well as finding their voice as unique movers, students grow as respectful and supportive team members in an environment which values what each young person has to offer. Inclusivity is important to me and my work embraces students with additional needs. |
Adults
Classes for adults fulfill a variety of purposes to meet each individual at their own experience of dancing. My classes have encouraged nervous dancers, mobilised elderly dancers and brought accessibility to disabled dancers. Whether complete beginners or possessing an advanced level of technique every dancer is valued and celebrated for the unique qualities they possess. Every age brings a beautiful richness to movement. While some classes are especially tailored to benefit a sense of well being, all classes aim to nurture dancers enabling them to find and develop self expression, confidence, strength and skill. |
